Women’s Health

Women’s Health at Prairie Health and Wellness focuses on helping each woman maximize her own health. Our approach to women’s health differs from traditional women’s health clinics in many ways, it is more than practicing gynecology alone and instead is care of the whole woman. Conventional medicine often uses birth control pills or other medications to regulate cycles, ultimately leaving the underlying causes of illness unaddressed.  At Prairie Health & Wellness we use deep physiology to identify the root causes of health concerns and provide a path towards normalization.

Women often take care of everyone else but themselves. This leads to sleep deprivation, poor eating habits, gut issues, and increased stress which in turn can all cause a compromised immune system and other health issues. Frequently a woman’s lifestyle may need modification as it relates to nutrition, physical activity, sleeping habits, eliminating toxins/chemical exposure and endocrine disruptors. Other problems may benefit from the utilization of supplements or herbal medicines, hormone replacement therapy and occasional pharmaceutical therapies.

At our appointments, we take time with each woman who walks through our door to fully evaluate their medical history in order to obtain the full picture. The Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners at Prairie Health and Wellness address the following issues: irregular/painful cycles, PMS, pregnancy challenges, perimenopausal/menopausal issues, preconception counseling, sexual discomfort, urinary incontinence, endometriosis, hormone balance, and PCOS. We offer yearly Well-Woman Exams, body composition testing, bone density DEXA scans, and evaluate stressful cortisol, insulin, hormones, inflammation, and thyroid imbalance. Once the source of the problem is identified, a safe and effective treatment plan is individually created for each woman.
