Naturopathic Medicine
Wichita & Hutchinson
I grew up in an Atlanta suburb and began my college career at Georgia Southern University. After completing the first two years of core undergraduate studies, I took a few years off to work, travel and decide what career path to pursue. For years I had been interested in natural health and nutrition, so I decided to prepare for medical school by returning to college at the University of Georgia (UGA).
While working on a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology I also did research on antibiotic resistance and microbial energy systems. After graduating I joined a research team at UGA working on the Human Genome Project. A year later I moved to Denver and joined another research team working on developing biomarkers for early detection of lung cancer at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. The studies leading to my degree and research projects provided me with a strong foundation for analyzing natural remedies that often lack thorough scientific evaluation.
Although research was very interesting, I realized that I wanted to work directly with the people that research helped. This led me to Portland Oregon to attend the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (now National University of Natural Medicine). Due to Oregon’s wide scope of practice for naturopathic physicians, I was afforded the opportunity to have an extensive array of clinical experiences during the four year program.
My naturopathic practice began in 2010. My education and training led me to take a holistic approach to diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, I have developed a passion and unique approach to physical and structural diagnosis and treatment which has been very useful in a myriad of conditions. Over the years I have found it important to consider and address not only chemical physiology and structure, but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a patient’s life.
My personal passions include spending time with family, friends, and my golden retriever Sam. I also enjoy art, music, and time with nature. I am excited to be working with the amazing team at Prairie Health and Wellness and serving the wonderful community here in Kansas.
